A successful renovation will always go hand in hand with stress, anticipation, and additional costs. Nobody knows who wrote the rules, but that’s just how it always seems to go. And you wouldn’t be wrong to say that the whole renovation process sounds unpleasant, beginning to end. Beginning your relationship with a contractor or starting your renovation can involve elevated expectations, forced collaboration, and the exchanging of large sums of money. It all sounds a little mad, but we willingly do it.
And why? Because of that rewarding feeling at the end. Once you’ve got your extended kitchen, or bigger bedroom, or brand-new utility room, you feel nothing but joy. But, if you don’t have the timeline for renovations, you don’t have a bottomless pool of money, or your doctors warned you to avoid stress because of your high blood pressure, updating the space you already have can be just as joy-inducing as renovating.
